We’ve been living in hard times physically, mentally and financially. When will all of this end so we can go back to our normal lives ?Will this life stay on for another three or four years? Questions that have been rushing through people’s heads these past year. It’s been a rough time from losing our loved ones to having the virus and being very sick.We need something to help us get out of this deep hole! I read an article on the New York Times about how fighting covid is like fighting a war and I feel like this a huge war we’re fighting here because many people have been saying it’s a political matter because Chinese people were always eating different species so why now and some are saying it’s a virus that came from that animal and many people are dying,it’s just hard times that we all have been going through. No one knows where the truth lies, so we’re fighting a huge war to end it.The article was about how we need to step up our game or we will fall even deeper,I totally agree with it because our former president knew that the virus was coming and he didn’t do anything to prevent it so we fell deeper and if our current president doesn’t step up,it will take us many years to get back on track from school wise to economic wise to many different things.Since COVID began which was almost a year from today,COVID had a negative impact on people’s mental health “such as difficulty sleeping (36%) or eating (32%), increases in alcohol consumption or substance use (12%), and worsening chronic conditions (12%), due to worry and stress over the coronavirus”. As the pandemic wears ongoing and necessary public health measures expose many people to experiencing situations linked to poor mental health issues outcomes from isolation and job losses.People were not used to staying home all day, panicking if they coughed or felt any type of way. Many have been eating a lot because they’re staying home all day and you’re bored so you just grab a snack and watch something and then 5 minutes later why not make some popcorn while watching a movie and so on. Based on an article I read by Rabaha Kamel,it was saying that from ages 18-24 “report symptoms of anxiety and/or depressive disorder (56%). Compared to all adults, young adults are more likely to report substance use (25% vs. 13%) and suicidal thoughts (26% vs. 11%). Prior to the pandemic, young adults were already at high risk of poor mental health and substance use disorder, though many did not receive treatment “.Many have been suffering and having mental health problems isn’t easy. From my own personal experiences it is a hard time,my dad caught the virus last month and when he got it,his friend got it too.His friend had a problem with his heart,so he passed away after 4 days of having the virus so I was very mentally exhausted because I didn’t want anything to happen to my father. and all that was going through my head was all negative thoughts and my dad was sick and more sick everyday so I kept praying to god that he passes what he’s going through because I need him in my life and thank god he was good on the 7th day and came back stronger than before. This pandemic many lost their loved and many were scared to lose them. The article I read was from professor and his name is Paul Krugman and I felt like the article was made for those who were struggling which is most likely all of us.The author is trying to make a huge point that Biden needs to act up,it’s most likely go big or go home because going many people have been suffering like i said from shortage of many things and not just that but our economy is going down and I agree with him because we have to move forward because without stepping up we will lose many things more than we already lost and it will take us so much time to go back to normal. He has also made a great point that people have been getting stimulus checks but not everyone needs the help because some people’s income is very high so why be qualified for it and many others who have kept their jobs don’t need a stimulus payment, so why not target the payments to the underpaid, the underemployed and the unemployed because that has been causing a lot of stress to because many people have been home with no money to feed their children or pay their bills so we really need to step up our game so we don’t fall behind deeper and that it doesn’t take us more than needed to get back to our normal lives.
